Hey gang! Hope all is well and your Monday went or is going smoothly. It’s been a great weekend for me. Alexandria, aka Xandria turned 8 on Saturday (my baby is growing up, my dog for those that don’t know) and I just turned 31 yesterday. Absolutely blows my mind at how quickly my year 30 went. Plus we are halfway through December now and less than 10 days away from Christmas. Hope you are all ready for that! Anyway, what I am bring you today is a fun, affordable Cranberry Holiday Glam look all available at ULTA and using the Makeup Revolution Emily Edit The Wants Palette, which I believe is finally back in stock. So, if you are interested to see what I came up with, then just keep on reading!

Since I’m doing a full glam look, well, let’s say a full glam for me, I decided to do my brows first. If you have read any of my previous posts where I showcase a full look, brows are one of the things I tend to do towards the end. I was aiming for a more structured, prominent type of brow. For this, I pulled out the NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in Black. If you have tried using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade before and you felt it was a bit too tricky to use, I truly feel you would enjoy this product. It is less pigmented, so you don’t have to worry about a strong brow quickly which can be hard to blend out, and it is a little less waxy making it a bit easier to maneuver through the brows. The only downfall I have found is even when using a brow gel, for this look I’m using the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Black, it is not as long wearing as the Anastasia Dip Brow.
As you can see in the picture above, they are filled in and have a more crisp edge. I haven’t cleaned them up yet, but I will discuss that later in the post.
Moving on to the base, not pictured here is primer. Currently, I’m trying to use up my Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore Filling Primer. It’s fine, not the most astounding primer ever, but it does a decent job at filling in my pores and mattifying my oily areas. For foundation, I mixed two foundations. Obviously you don’t have to do that, but I do have reason for my madness! Haha, well it’s reasonable in my mind. The Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation has a wonderful undertone and very matte, too matte for my liking. The FLOWER Beauty Light Illusion Luminous Makeup Foundation is absolutely STUNNING, love, love, love this foundation, HOWEVER, it gets too greasy looking on my skin and is too dark (next time I’m going to grab L1). So, to get a more ideal finish, I drop out what I feel is roughly a pump of the Catrice foundation and a pump of the FLOWER Beauty foundation and mix them on my palette.
My preferred method of application is to use a damped sponge. I’m not a fan of apply foundation with a brush, just not my thing. As you can see from the picture above, the combination gives me a lightly dewy, maybe you could call it Satin finish, and I get a high medium coverage from one layer. I can’t add more layers of foundation for any brand honestly because then it looks cakey.
Onto concealing and powdering. This is also where I clean up my brows, moreso underneath the brows with concealer. For this look, I pulled out the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour. I don’t have any full opinions on this product yet, still have been testing it out.
As you can see from the picture above, I’m clearly not joking about the full glam look. With this product, I did the stereotypical “triangle” shape under my eyes to conceal a bit and highlight the area. I brought a little down the bridge of my nose, a little on top of my cupid’s bow, a touch on my chin, and a bit on my forehead. Again, to highlight and bring light to those areas on my face. I also dabbed a bit on my eyelids to use as an eyeshadow base/primer. I also pulled a bit of the product on my lids to shape underneath my eyes. I blended out all of it with a dampened sponge. To set under my eyes, I used my holy grail powder, the Milani Prep + Set + Glow Illuminating Transparent Powder (quick edit: Ulta is no longer carrying the Illuminating Powder, WTF?!?! You can just use the Covergirl Pressed Powder under your eyes and it’ll still look great), then set the rest of my face with the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder in Fair.
Moving on to the rest of the face, it’s time to bronze, blush, and highlight this blank canvas! For bronzer, I pulled out my Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer. With a larger, fluffier brush, I dusted this along the hollows of my cheeks and the perimeter of my face, including my jawline and temples. Next, I did a touch of blush. I don’t know about you, but I tend to get a bit heavy handed with my blush, luckily, the L.A. Girl Just Blushing Blush, this one in the shade Just Playful, are pigmented to where you feel you don’t spend too much time building the product but not so pigmented you overdo it and feel a bit clownish. For me personally, I don’t like the look of blush on the apples of my cheeks, but layering it a bit above where I blend in the bronzer. To top off the face, what better way then to apply HIGHLIGHT. Highlight is literally the icing on the cake. The Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in 01 Be My Highlight looks beautiful on my skin tone. I love how this gives a sort of candlelight glow to my skin, as you can probably see from my side smirk, haha.
Up next is the eyes! Like I mentioned earlier, for this look, I pulled out my The Wants Palette by Makeup Revolution and Emily Noel and was craving a Cranberry eye, which is easily achievable with this palette. Starting off with setting up my crease I decided to pick up Prayer. I took my time building and blending until I was satisfied with the intensity.
Up next, I picked up Cheer, a nice rich cranberry red shade and worked that in on top of and a little below.
Then, on smaller crease brush, I picked up just a smidge of Pi Phi, which runs a bit more plum, but I thought a touch of the plum would bring depth to the look without alternating the overall vibe of the look that I had planned.
Now onto the fun, shiny part. When looking at the palette, two shades seem like they would be a good fit for this look, Good Vibes and Heartbeat. Good Vibes, although beautiful, leans more towards copper. Heartbeat is a beautiful metallic red shade that I adore and especially adore for this look. To get the most intensity out of this shade, I first picked it up on a flat shader brush then damped it with a little bit of setting spray, then what works best with these shades is to press and drag the product. To blend out the edges, I picked up my fluffy brush, the one that I used for Prayer and just blended the edges together.
Now, you could totally leave the look here, but I wanted to amp it up just a touch. So, using the same technique that I did with Heartbeat, I grabbed a bit of Top Story but just swiped that in the center of the lid on top of Heartbeat. Then, I did want to intensify the red in the crease again, so I picked up a bit more of cheer on a fluffy crease brush and blended that into the crease.
To finish up the eyes, I decided to throw on a bit of liner, although if you are not a fan of eye liner, totally skip this step and the look will still turn out nice. My personal favorite is the NYX Epic Ink Liner in Black. Then in the water line, I used black waterproof pencil liner, this one is not Cruelty-Free because I am trying to use this up, it is the Rimmel Waterproof Kohl Kajal Pencil in Black. The one I recommend that I’m going to be using next is the L.A. Girl Gel Glide Pencil in Black, much cheaper and just as creamy!
Before applying mascara, I wanted to finish up the lower lashline by applying Cheer then smoking that out with a bit of Prayer. For Mascara, I grabbed out the Covergirl Last Blast Mascara in Black and coated both the top and bottom lashes.
To be a bit extra, I decided to apply false lashes, the Kiss Blowout Lash in the style Pompadour. While waiting for the lashes to dry, I tried on two different lip options, both Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuits. For more of a nude option, I swatched Nudie Patootie, one of my favorite nudes of all time. As you can see in the picture below, I have one lash on, but to be more cohesive with the look, I put on Give Me Mocha.
To finish it all off, I sprayed a bit of setting spray, right now I’m trying to finish up my FLOWER Beauty Seal the Deal Hydrating Setting Spray and that’s it! This is the finish look! I can’t wait till I pick up a ring light, hopefully, it will showcase more of the dimension of the look but I still think it looks pretty nice on camera. I definitely love how it turned out in person. The lashes are really nice, not super heavy, easy to apply, and the band was flexible. They are also really inexpensive and reuseable!
