Foundation Friday: Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation

LeahEiden.com | Foundation Friday: Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation

Hey gang and happy Friday!  Today is the start of my weekend and I thought to kick it off, let’s do a full day wear test and foundation review!  For makeup, my blog focuses on cruelty-free beauty, so today I wanted to bring you the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation.  Currently, I have the shade 6.5 and it is a bit too yellow for me, I should have gone with 6, but I rather go more yellow than pink.  This is not a first impression, but it is still new to me.  I’ve worn it throughout the week, have some thoughts on it, but I wanted to showcase it to you guys, go over some things I have noticed with it, then do an update later on in the month.  Hope that is okay with you guys!  Anywho, enough rambling, let’s get on with it!

Also, quick side note.  Foundation Friday’s were inspired, for me anyway, by Taylor of ThaTaylaa.  She is the first person that I ever saw doing Foundation Friday videos and I’ve been watching YouTube for a very long time.  So, credit for the inspiration all goes to that wonderful badass!

Please Note: This post DOES contain affiliate links.  Thank you!

Alright, like you can tell by the title and into, it is all about the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation today.  I picked mine up from Ulta and it runs for $12 and you get 0.8 oz worth of product, which is less than the average amount of 1 oz for more foundations.  It comes in 24 shades, with what I feel is a good variety of fair, light, medium, deep, and dark shades.  The packaging is frosted glass with a rose gold top and it is a doe foot applicator.  I don’t mind a doe foot applicator, the only somewhat issue with the packaging that I noticed is if you pull out the applicator too quickly, it can splatter a bit so be careful.

Today, I washed, toned, and moisturized like normal and for primer, I did use a little bit of my Catrice Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner on my pores, but not all over my face.  From playing around with this foundation for about a week now, I have learned something vital in regards to application, do one small section at a time.  This foundation dries incredibly quickly.  The first time I used it, I had a hard time blending out the marks of initial application of foundation.  The best method I found was working a quarter of my face at a time, so that is what I did today.  On one half of my face, I used a brush and the other side a sponge.  I don’t notice a major difference between the sides, maybe a tiny bit more coverage on the brush side, however, it was easier to blend out using the brush but I did not like the overall finish.  So, I did go over with it with my sponge with no additional product, just to smooth it out a bit.

LeahEiden.com | Foundation Friday: Initial Application, Front View

LeahEiden.com | Foundation Friday: Initial Application, Sponge Side

Off the bat, not a huge fan of it.  It is not terrible but I don’t like how it sits on and around my nose, as well as around my mouth.  It looks very dry on my skin and very heavy.  Note, I do not have dry skin.  I have normal to slightly oily in my t-zone.  I rarely battle dry patches, mostly just on the tip of my nose.

LeahEiden.com | Foundation Friday: Initial Application, Full Face of Makeup

This is what it looks like after putting on the rest of my makeup.  Another thing that I have noticed is that I need to conceal one eye at a time.  Something about this foundation, how quickly it dries, it also makes my concealer dry down quickly as well.  To note, I did not use a new concealer, nor new face products because I need to know how well this product performs.  Besides the slight issue with the concealer, all of my other products, powder, bronzer, contour, and highlight applied fine, no issues there.  After I applied the rest of my makeup, overall I do like how it looks.  So far no major complaints but I’m still not a fan of how it looks in my nose creases, my nose in general, and I feel it looks a bit weird around my mouth.  Check-in time is 8:30 am.  My goal is to wear it until about 5/530pm today because I am doing this post the same day.  I will be testing it out for longer time periods throughout the month and give my overall thoughts on this foundation then.

What’s on the rest of my face:
Primer: Catrice Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner
Concealer: Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair
Undereye Powder: Milani Prep + Set + Glow Illuminating Transparent Powder (discontinued WTF?!?!)
Face Powder: Covergirl Advanced Radiance Pressed Powder in Ivory

For the first check-in, the time is 1:26pm or let’s just round it up to 1:30pm.  It has been on for 5 hours at this point.  I don’t feel it has oxidized throughout the day which is fantastic for me, that is a problem I have with most foundations, them oxidizing throughout the day and turning me into an Oompa Loompa, so plus number 1!  If you zoom in around my nose region, I’m still not thrilled with how it looks.  It still seems a bit dry and cakey around the nose creases and underneath the nostril cavities.  I am noticing just a very tiny bit of creasing around my smile lines, but nothing major and I do notice a couple of dry patches forming under my lower lip.  Overall, I like how it is wearing, looks really nice on my forehead, I don’t feel oily or greasy at all.  At this point, I really like how it is warming up with my skin and I love the amount of glow my skin has at the moment.

Alright, so the final check-in is at 5:30pm today, as I said earlier, it is the same day.  I’m trying to quickly finish this up so it is up at 6pm my time (PST) for you guys.  So the foundation has been on for a total 9 hours, which is not as long as I would like, but still a decent wear time.  As you can see from the pics from above, I feel it looks about the same as the 1:30pm check-in.  It looks a bit dewier but still nice.  Still a little cakey around my nose and mouth area but it doesn’t appear as dry as earlier.  Also, the creases around my mouth are a bit more prominent but nothing that would deter me away from using the foundation in the future.

Alright gang, so that does it!  At this point, with the few times that I have used this foundation, I do like it.  However, I will give my final thoughts at the end of the month, once I try a few different techniques, primers, powders, etc. on top of it to make sure it works well with other products in my collection.  It has lasted really well throughout the day on my skin, and even though it is a bit tricky at first, I’m excited to keep playing with it throughout the month!  Have you given this foundation a try yet?  If so, what do you think of it?  Let me know in the comments!  Also, let me know if there are any other cruelty-free foundations you would like me to test out in the future!  Thank you for stopping by and until next time!

REVIEW: Dose of Colors – Lip Products

Hey gang and Happy Friday!  Christmas is right around the corner, only a few more days away, hope you are all ready for it if you celebrate it and I hope you don’t have to do any more shopping!  James and I are celebrating Christmas this weekend because his son is going to be over, so I am definitely looking forward to that!  They’ll be over shortly.  But that’s not what we are here to talk about today.  Today I’m giving some lip swatches and a review of the current lip products in my collection by Dose of Colors.  So if that is something you think you might be interested in, just keep on reading!

Please Note: This post DOES contain affiliate links.  Thank you!

Lip It Up Satin Lipsticks
LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Mickey Collection Lip It Up Satin Lipstick in FOREVER
Currently, I only have one in my collection.  It is apart of the Mickey Mouse Collection in the shade FOREVER.  I’ve worn this shade a few times now and overall it is a nice formula, however, I don’t feel it is worth the price.  The outer packaging is beautiful and looking at the other permanent shades that are available, that packaging is also beautiful.  It is just a bit tricky to apply the cap.  The product does not roll down, so if you are not careful you can easily divot into the product and possibly break off the product.  Like I previously mentioned, the formula is nice but nothing revolutionary that I feel can’t be found at the drugstore.

Lip Gloss
LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Mickey Collection Lip Gloss in One & Only
LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Mickey Collection Lip Gloss in Rockin' It
Unlike the lipstick, these I feel are absolutely worth the price.  Both shades that I picked up were also from the Mickey Mouse Collection, ROCKIN’ IT and ONE & ONLY, both cool toned nude glosses.  Jessica from JamBeauty89 has raved about these and for good reason!  If you read my post on My Most Loved Products of 2018, you will know that the EM Cosmetics True Gloss changed the game for me in regards to glosses.  Before that gloss, you would not catch gloss in my collection.  This formula reminds me so much of the EM Cosmetics True Gloss, it is a more gel-like consistency, not super heavy on the lips, and NOT STICKY!  Hallelujah!  These two shades are pretty opaque but layer on top of other lip products beautifully!  Did I mention they smell like frosting??  Oh my gosh, it is heavenly!

Matte Liquid Lipsticks
LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in DESERT SUEDE
LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in CORK
LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in LOS ANJEALOUS
This is where it is going to get tricky.  Dose of Colors makes my favorite liquid lipstick formula, well, on a couple of shades.  I currently own 5 different permanent shades.  DESERT SUEDE, CORK, MERLOT, EXTRA SAUCY, and LOS ANJEALOUS.  Desert Suede and Cork I have had the longest and the formulas are PERFECT!  They are very comfortable on the lips, very long wearing (they last through doggy kisses), are transfer proof, they don’t crumble or flake, and layer on top of themselves beautifully.  The reds are where I have inconsistencies.  Los Anjealous feels and acts like the same formula as Cork and Desert Suede, Extra Saucy and Merlot I strongly feel are different formulas.  Now, I don’t know if that is due to the fact that they are more richer reds, but they are both different formulas, in my opinion.

LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in EXTRA SAUCY
Extra Saucy is beautiful on the lips, honestly my ideal type of red shade, but it bleeds a little on me and smudges & transfers.  It bums me out so much because I absolutely love this shade.  I purchased it originally for work, I wanted a transfer resistant, long wearing red to wear to work, but sadly I have to fuss with this shade throughout the day, unlike the previous three shades.  I can’t eat with this shade, it collects in the corners of my lips, but I can drink with it, as long as it is through a straw.  It is still comfortable on the lips though.

LeahEiden.com | Dose of Colors Matte Liquid Lipstick in MERLOT
The last shade is Merlot and I am not a huge fan of this shade, for several different reasons.  For one, in order to get it to that truer blue-toned red, I have to do two layers.  Which fine, no big deal, however, it makes the formula extra drying.  I’ve noticed, even with one layer of this product, it is drying, but two, dear lord.  Again, I can stand a more drying formula so I could get over that.  This shade also stains the crap out of my lips, which is not something I’ve had a problem with, with the other two reds.  It stains my lips bright pink.  What I forgot to mention is with one layer of this product, it looks a lot more pink than red.  The next problem I have is that it collects in the corners of my lips, then bleeds out around it, then stains my skin.  Not a cute look.  I also have a problem of it bleeding out of my lip line, it transfers really easily, and smudges quite a bit.  Which again, is a problem because it stains my skin and takes forever to get off.  I really wished this shade worked for me, because after two layers I love the red, but sadly, it doesn’t.  For those several reasons, I would not recommend this red.  If you want a good red, go with LOS ANJEALOUS.  It is more muted but has an excellent formula!

Overall, I really love Dose of Colors, I will definitely keep purchasing other shades of the glosses and even though there are some consistencies in the formula with the matte liquid lipsticks, I feel the mid-tone shades are the safest bet on a consistent formula.  I would like to try KNOCK ON WOOD, SAND, CAMPFIRE, and OLD FLAME.  And even though there are definite inconsistencies with the red shades, I want to try one more red shade, that being KISS OF FIRE.  I feel with how off the formula was between the red shades, I’m not confident in the formula for the darker shades.  I feel they might be a bit streaky or have the formula similar to MERLOT just because a lot of other brands tend to have that problem.  If you have tried a darker shade of the matte liquid lipsticks and have had success, please let me know in the comments which shade or shades worked for you, because I really do love the brand and I would love to try the darker shades.

Well gang, I know this was yet another long post.  I’m one of those people that really tries to describe and give as much information as I can to be as helpful as I can be.  With that being said, I hope you found this post somewhat helpful or informative, or just fun.  Who knows!  If you have tried several Dose of Color products before, let me know which ones you’ve loved and which ones you hated.  Also, have any of you tried their eyeshadow formula or highlighter formula?  I am intrigued but feel it has been a bit overhyped due to the Desi and Katy collab.  Maybe I’m wrong, but if you’ve tried them, let me know what you thought!  Okay, I think I have blabbered on long enough!  I hope you guys have a great weekend and we’ll chat again soon!  Until next time!

Holiday Glam: Affordable & All Available at ULTA – NOT SPONSORED

LeahERaven.com | Holiday Glam: Affordable & Available At ULTA

Hey gang! Hope all is well and your Monday went or is going smoothly.  It’s been a great weekend for me.  Alexandria, aka Xandria turned 8 on Saturday (my baby is growing up, my dog for those that don’t know) and I just turned 31 yesterday.  Absolutely blows my mind at how quickly my year 30 went.  Plus we are halfway through December now and less than 10 days away from Christmas.  Hope you are all ready for that!  Anyway, what I am bring you today is a fun, affordable Cranberry Holiday Glam look all available at ULTA and using the Makeup Revolution Emily Edit The Wants Palette, which I believe is finally back in stock.  So, if you are interested to see what I came up with, then just keep on reading!

Please Note: This post DOES contain affiliate links but it is NOT sponsored.  Thank you!

Since I’m doing a full glam look, well, let’s say a full glam for me, I decided to do my brows first.  If you have read any of my previous posts where I showcase a full look, brows are one of the things I tend to do towards the end.  I was aiming for a more structured, prominent type of brow.  For this, I pulled out the NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade in Black.  If you have tried using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade before and you felt it was a bit too tricky to use, I truly feel you would enjoy this product.  It is less pigmented, so you don’t have to worry about a strong brow quickly which can be hard to blend out, and it is a little less waxy making it a bit easier to maneuver through the brows.  The only downfall I have found is even when using a brow gel, for this look I’m using the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara in Black, it is not as long wearing as the Anastasia Dip Brow.

As you can see in the picture above, they are filled in and have a more crisp edge.  I haven’t cleaned them up yet, but I will discuss that later in the post.

Moving on to the base, not pictured here is primer.  Currently, I’m trying to use up my Milani Prime Shield Mattifying + Pore Filling Primer.  It’s fine, not the most astounding primer ever, but it does a decent job at filling in my pores and mattifying my oily areas.  For foundation, I mixed two foundations.  Obviously you don’t have to do that, but I do have reason for my madness!  Haha, well it’s reasonable in my mind.  The Catrice HD Liquid Coverage Foundation has a wonderful undertone and very matte, too matte for my liking.  The FLOWER Beauty Light Illusion Luminous Makeup Foundation is absolutely STUNNING, love, love, love this foundation, HOWEVER, it gets too greasy looking on my skin and is too dark (next time I’m going to grab L1).  So, to get a more ideal finish, I drop out what I feel is roughly a pump of the Catrice foundation and a pump of the FLOWER Beauty foundation and mix them on my palette.

My preferred method of application is to use a damped sponge.  I’m not a fan of apply foundation with a brush, just not my thing.  As you can see from the picture above, the combination gives me a lightly dewy, maybe you could call it Satin finish, and I get a high medium coverage from one layer.  I can’t add more layers of foundation for any brand honestly because then it looks cakey.

Onto concealing and powdering.  This is also where I clean up my brows, moreso underneath the brows with concealer.  For this look, I pulled out the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Conceal & Contour.  I don’t have any full opinions on this product yet, still have been testing it out.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

As you can see from the picture above, I’m clearly not joking about the full glam look.  With this product, I did the stereotypical “triangle” shape under my eyes to conceal a bit and highlight the area.  I brought a little down the bridge of my nose, a little on top of my cupid’s bow, a touch on my chin, and a bit on my forehead.  Again, to highlight and bring light to those areas on my face.  I also dabbed a bit on my eyelids to use as an eyeshadow base/primer.  I also pulled a bit of the product on my lids to shape underneath my eyes.  I blended out all of it with a dampened sponge.  To set under my eyes, I used my holy grail powder, the Milani Prep + Set + Glow Illuminating Transparent Powder (quick edit: Ulta is no longer carrying the Illuminating Powder, WTF?!?!  You can just use the Covergirl Pressed Powder under your eyes and it’ll still look great), then set the rest of my face with the Covergirl Outlast All-Day Matte Finishing Powder in Fair.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

Moving on to the rest of the face, it’s time to bronze, blush, and highlight this blank canvas!  For bronzer, I pulled out my Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer in Bronzer.  With a larger, fluffier brush, I dusted this along the hollows of my cheeks and the perimeter of my face, including my jawline and temples.  Next, I did a touch of blush.  I don’t know about you, but I tend to get a bit heavy handed with my blush, luckily, the L.A. Girl Just Blushing Blush, this one in the shade Just Playful, are pigmented to where you feel you don’t spend too much time building the product but not so pigmented you overdo it and feel a bit clownish.  For me personally, I don’t like the look of blush on the apples of my cheeks, but layering it a bit above where I blend in the bronzer.  To top off the face, what better way then to apply HIGHLIGHT.  Highlight is literally the icing on the cake.  The Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in 01 Be My Highlight looks beautiful on my skin tone.  I love how this gives a sort of candlelight glow to my skin, as you can probably see from my side smirk, haha.

Up next is the eyes!  Like I mentioned earlier, for this look, I pulled out my The Wants Palette by Makeup Revolution and Emily Noel and was craving a Cranberry eye, which is easily achievable with this palette.  Starting off with setting up my crease I decided to pick up Prayer.  I took my time building and blending until I was satisfied with the intensity.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

Up next, I picked up Cheer, a nice rich cranberry red shade and worked that in on top of and a little below.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

Then, on smaller crease brush, I picked up just a smidge of Pi Phi, which runs a bit more plum, but I thought a touch of the plum would bring depth to the look without alternating the overall vibe of the look that I had planned.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

Now onto the fun, shiny part.  When looking at the palette, two shades seem like they would be a good fit for this look, Good Vibes and HeartbeatGood Vibes, although beautiful, leans more towards copper.  Heartbeat is a beautiful metallic red shade that I adore and especially adore for this look.  To get the most intensity out of this shade, I first picked it up on a flat shader brush then damped it with a little bit of setting spray, then what works best with these shades is to press and drag the product.  To blend out the edges, I picked up my fluffy brush, the one that I used for Prayer and just blended the edges together.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

Now, you could totally leave the look here, but I wanted to amp it up just a touch.  So, using the same technique that I did with Heartbeat, I grabbed a bit of Top Story but just swiped that in the center of the lid on top of Heartbeat.  Then, I did want to intensify the red in the crease again, so I picked up a bit more of cheer on a fluffy crease brush and blended that into the crease.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

To finish up the eyes, I decided to throw on a bit of liner, although if you are not a fan of eye liner, totally skip this step and the look will still turn out nice.  My personal favorite is the NYX Epic Ink Liner in Black.  Then in the water line, I used black waterproof pencil liner, this one is not Cruelty-Free because I am trying to use this up, it is the Rimmel Waterproof Kohl Kajal Pencil in Black.  The one I recommend that I’m going to be using next is the L.A. Girl Gel Glide Pencil in Black, much cheaper and just as creamy!

Before applying mascara, I wanted to finish up the lower lashline by applying Cheer then smoking that out with a bit of Prayer.  For Mascara, I grabbed out the Covergirl Last Blast Mascara in Black and coated both the top and bottom lashes.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

To be a bit extra, I decided to apply false lashes, the Kiss Blowout Lash in the style Pompadour.  While waiting for the lashes to dry, I tried on two different lip options, both Wet N Wild Liquid Catsuits.  For more of a nude option, I swatched Nudie Patootie, one of my favorite nudes of all time.  As you can see in the picture below, I have one lash on, but to be more cohesive with the look, I put on Give Me Mocha.

LeahERaven.com | Affordable Holiday Glam Available at ULTA

To finish it all off, I sprayed a bit of setting spray, right now I’m trying to finish up my FLOWER Beauty Seal the Deal Hydrating Setting Spray and that’s it!  This is the finish look!  I can’t wait till I pick up a ring light, hopefully, it will showcase more of the dimension of the look but I still think it looks pretty nice on camera.  I definitely love how it turned out in person.  The lashes are really nice, not super heavy, easy to apply, and the band was flexible.  They are also really inexpensive and reuseable!

So that’s it gang, that is my Affordable Holiday Glam all available at ULTA.  ULTA is my favorite place to shop for makeup, the rewards system is amazing, you can collect points and use them on high-end purchases or drugstore, and it is a one-stop shop for me.  I hope you found this interesting or helpful, or maybe even gave you inspiration to try something new or different.  I hope you have a great rest of your day and until next time!

A Quick & Easy Holiday Look

Hey gang and happy Monday.  Today is the big Cyber Monday where tons of deals are happening online.  I for one have not purchased anything today.  Like I said on Friday’s post, the only Black Friday shopping I did was purchase some toys for my BF’s son and my niece.  Other than that, I have all that I need and want at the moment.  That being said, I did purchase a few things the week before that should be coming in soon.  Anyway, that’s not why I’m here today.  I’m here to share a quick and easy holiday look.  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not a super “Glam” person.  I love makeup, clearly, but I’m not about full on Glam makeup.  Looks absolutely beautiful on some many men and women, it’s just not for me.  I love quick and easy makeup that looks great and still makes a statement without being over the top for my tastes.  If you are interested in what that look is, just keep on reading!

Please Note: This post DOES contain affiliate links.  Thank you!

Now when I say quick and easy, I’m looking for my makeup to take me no more than 15 to 20 minutes, 20 minutes being the absolute maximum.  Of course, if I am just playing around with makeup that day, I don’t mind it being longer.  However, when I am trying to put my face on to go to work, for a get-together, or just ready for the day, I don’t want to spend an hour doing so, you know what I mean?  So with that being said, let’s get going.

LeahERaven.com | Quick & Easy Holiday Look

For my base, I’m working through my Milani Mattifying + Pore-Filling Primer, using that on the areas I tend to get oily and have large pores.  However, use whatever primer works for your skin or no primer at all if you are not a fan.  Then, for foundation, I am using a mixture of the FLOWER Beauty Light Illusion Luminous Foundation in L2 and the C.Y.O. Long-Lasting Foundation Lifeproof in 101 with a tiny bit of white mixer.  Obviously, to help cut down on time you don’t need to mix 3 types of foundations, I’m just working on the two main foundations in projects so I’ve been taking the time to mix them.  My recommendation is to use a foundation that you know and love.  If you are going out somewhere, you don’t want to be trying new products that you are not sure about, you want to look and feel your best.  I blend that into my skin with a damp beauty sponge.

Next up is concealer and powder.  I dab a bit of Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer in Fair underneath my eyes and on my eyelids to cancel out any redness or veins and to act as an eyeshadow primer with the same beauty sponge.  I then set my concealer and face with the Besame Cosmetics Vanilla Brightening Powder.  Again, use what you have, are comfortable in, and you know that works and you don’t have to fuss with.  At this point, I am ready for the additional face products.  Because I am so fair, especially in the winter, I tend to use a contour shade as more of a bronzer, meaning I buff it out and blow it out a bit more because with my fair skin, using a bronzer tends to pull really war and orange on my skin tone.  Currently, I love using the Kat Von D Beauty Shade + Light Contour Palette, the shade Sombre.  I work this into my cheekbones, lightly on the outside parts of my temples and forehead, and a light dusting under my jawline.

For blush, I want something to give my skin a more flushed appearance.  I tend to go a little heavy handed with blush for these kinds of looks because I love the look of rosy cheeks coming in from the cold.  Right now I’m using L.A. Colors Just Blushing Blush in the shade Just Playful.  It’s more of a neutral toned looking blush but on my skin tone it shows up a bit more vibrant mauvy pink.  For highlight, I like something a bit more subtle but something that gives that “Glow From Within” kind of vibe.  I like the Essence Pure Nude Highlighter in Be My Highlight.

Moving on to eyes, I like to keep it very, very neutral.  I want to be able to have an eye look that is not only simple but can pair with any type of lip you can think of.  For that, I just take the shade that I contoured with, today being Sombre, and run that into my crease.  I don’t like to pull it into my outer V area, just my crease.  Then, I take a darker, neutral brown on a smaller brush and run that in the crease as well.  I then take the contour shade and run it on my lower lash line.  At this point, I spray my face with setting spray.  One that helps my makeup last longer that I love is the Kat Von D Beauty Lock-It Setting Mist, it gives a healthy look to my skin, melts all the powders together, and definitely helps the longevity of my makeup.  After it dries, I throw a nude liner into my waterline, curl my lashes, and put a few coats of mascara on.

Before moving on to the lips, this is when I do my brows.  Some people are blessed with beautiful, thick brows.  I am not.  Seriously, out of everything in my makeup routine, my brows take me the longest.  They roughly take me anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes.  What I do is fill and shape them in with a pencil, right now that being the Kat Von D Beauty Signature Brow Precision Pencil in Light Brown and then I run through a bit of the NYX Professional Makeup Tinted Brow Mascara in Brunette (love the formula, not a fan of the shade it runs really warm).

Lastly, my favorite part!  LIPS!  Seriously, with this look you can do anything!  Matte, glossy, satin, cream and whatever shade your heart desires!  Some of my favorite Go-To’s for this look for holiday time include Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Nahz Fur Atoo, Besame Cosmetics 1946 Red Velvet Lipstick, Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Tar Pit, Wet N Wild’s Megalast Liquid Catsuit in Give Me Mocha, and Wet N Wild’s Lipstick in Cherry Bomb.  Any type of nudes go great with this look, hell, even natural lip colors with a lip balm or clear gloss looks good.  But, when it is for the Holiday’s, I prefer those brighter, bolder colors because they give off more of a statement without having to put more effort in.  I don’t do lashes, I don’t do liner.  I keep the face & eyes simple and accentuate the lips.

Covergirl is Now Cruelty-Free. Here’s What’s on my Wish List!

Hey everyone!  Hope you all are doing well today!  It is the day before the American Thanksgiving and boy am I ready for that!  Tonight I’m making the pumpkin cheesecake that I mentioned in Monday’s post and prepping the green bean casserole for tomorrow night.  I have a few more things to take care of tomorrow, but luckily I don’t work tomorrow, being that it is a holiday.  But let’s get into why we are really here today.  Covergirl is officially CRUELTY-FREE.  I remember seeing a Twitter post from a few different Vegan handles, but until it was officially verified by Tashina and Justin from Locigal Harmony, I was not going to get my hopes up or purchase any products.  If you have not checked out the 2 Part Series Tashina and Justin did on their YouTube channel, I will link both Part 1 and Part 2 for your convenience.  Seriously, if you have not watched it, go watch it now!  But enough chatter, let’s get on with it!

Please Note: This post DOES contain affiliate links.  Thank you!

Before I went cruelty-free, there were a few items here and there that I had tried from Covergirl and remember enjoying.  However, I genuinely think it has been a couple of years since I’ve used any items.  I will say I picked up two of their Advanced Radiance Pressed Powders when I went to Fred Meyer the other day because I am actually running low on face powders and they were buy one get on half off.   Today, however, we are going into the items that I would like to purchase from them in the future, of course after I have worked through several similar items in my collection!

There are a couple of mascaras I’d like to give a go to.  One of them being the LashBlast Volume Mascara (the one in the orange tube) and the Professional Super Thick Lash Waterproof Mascara.  It has been a while since I’ve used Covergirl mascaras and I feel that is some of the products they are known for.  One mascara that has been my favorite for years was the L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara but sadly L’Oreal is not actually Cruelty-Free, although they like to throw around that term lightly.

Something that caught my attention from the line was the Farewell Feathering Lip Liner.  I remember trying the Urban Decay Ozone Lip Liner a long time ago, but I can’t remember what I thought about it.  This seems like it is a good alternative to that product and clearly much cheaper!  I know Mariah Leonard likes to multitask that product so I’m curious to see if the Covergirl one will do the same.

Next is an oldie but hopefully a goodie.  Tati has mentioned loving the Cheekers Blush for years on her channel.  Even though I’ve seen them, heard about them, I somehow kept passing them up.  Granted they are on the lower part of the shelf and new releases tend to be placed at eye level.  Soft Sable and Iced Cappuccino are a couple of shades that really caught my attention.

Then we have the Micro-Fine + Define Pencil.  This I have heard several beauty YouTuber’s talk about on their channel and end up loving.  The downfall is they only have 3 shades available, so hopefully, I can find a shade that doesn’t run too warm.   Soft Brown seems like the ideal shade match for me, plus it comes with about the standard size of product (0.003 oz) and at $7.99 per pencil, I will definitely give it a go.  Like I said, once I move through what’s in my current collection.  Side note… there are quite a few eyebrow pencils in there.  Haha.

Last up is a foundation.  Now, if you have been reading my blog for a bit, I did an inventory of my foundations.  It has since grown a bit, so clearly I don’t need another foundation.  However, this one is going to be on the back burner for now.  It is the Vitalist Healthy Elixir Foundation.  The problem I remember having with Covergirl foundations in the past is for one, their lightest shade tends to run too dark and two, the foundations oxidized like a mother fucker.  I’m not talking about the dry down.  Oh no.  With every foundation, I expect about a half a shade darker dry down shade.   No, with Covergirl foundations I have tried in the past, they have oxidized around 2 shades deeper AND, AND mind you!  They turned ORANGE.  I don’t know about you, but I am not an Oompa Loompa… even though I love them.  So, that is why this product is at the bottom of the list.  I would like to try it, but I don’t have high hopes more-so about the shade.

So that does it for me guys.  Those are some of the products offered by Covergirl that I am interested in trying.  With Covergirl now being Cruelty-Free, Certifiable Cruelty-Free by Cruelty-Free International and Logical Harmony, I hope that opens eyes of other major brands showing that you don’t need to test on animals in order to make money or keep afloat.  It is a barbaric and archaic practice that we should no longer need to employ.   I also love that this gives more availability of cruelty-free products readily available at the drugstore and larger supermarkets, making cruelty-free beauty more accessible!

With that being said, I would love to hear about what products you’d like to try out from Covergirl, or if you have always used Covergirl, what are some of your must-have, highly recommend products!  I’d love to jot them down and try them out in the future!  Well, gang.  I really need to walk the girls and get ready to make dinner.  Although, if I’m going to be honest, I have no idea what I’m going to make since I’m already doing so much prepping for Thanksgiving.  I might say fuck it and order cheese pizza, which is what I did last year haha.  If you celebrate the American Thanksgiving, I hope you have a wonderful holiday, whether it be spent with loved ones, friends, or co-workers just in case you are having to work.  Until we chat again Friday, thanks for stopping by!
