Hey gang, happy Wednesday! Hope you are all doing well! It is less than a week away from Christmas and I still cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by. Today I wanted to bring you guys something different. My current cookbook collection. I have some goals and plans for the upcoming year, some of that incorporates cooking, you will see why soon. So to jump-start that integration, I thought I would share my current cookbooks, most of them being Vegan cookbooks. I am not vegan, just vegetarian, with my 1 year anniversary just around the corner, but I integrate vegan cooking at home. So enough blabber, let me share my cookbooks!

01. Forks Over Knives: The Plant-Based Way To Health by Gene Stone
I’ve actually flipped through this book several times. It has quite of bit of good information about switching to a plant-based diet and contains over 100 plant-based recipes. Have yet to try a recipe from this book yet. The downfall for me is there are no pictures. Pictures help entice me into trying a new recipe.
02. The Conscious Cook by Tal Bonnen
Yet another cookbook that I’ve had for a bit. This one I’m more excited about cooking from in the future, the recipes look simple yet elegant. Great for a special date night dinner. What I’m most interested in trying in this book is the Paella with “Sausage,” Nori-Dusted Oyster Mushrooms, and Wine-Braised Artichoke Hearts (yes that is all one recipe), the Artichoke and Oyster Mushroom Rockefeller, and the Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Orange Sauce.
03. The Vegetarian Table: Thailand by Jacki Passmore & Steven Rothfeld
The only reason I picked up this book was for the Rice & Noodle’s section. There are a few curry recipes in here that looked good, but the Pineapple Fried Rice and the Vegetarian Pad Thai Noodles are what really get my mouth salivating!
04. Vegetarian: The Best-Ever Recipe Collection by Linda Fraser
Okay, there is clearly a theme with my cookbooks, I haven’t cooked out of many of them. I have a few, honest, but there is still a load that I haven’t. I picked up this one a while ago because it was a bit more instructional with how to make the recipes. Not exactly step by step pictures but pretty darn close. The pasta salads look amazing, there is a recipe for Hummus with Pan-fried Courgettes that look delicious, and a Butternut Squash and Sage Pizza that literally has my name on it!
05. Betty Goes Vegan by Annie & Dan Shannon
This is one of the latest additions to my cookbook collection and the one I am most excited to cook from. Reading the reviews, they honestly went back and forth. Some people didn’t like the fact that there were so many recipes calling for mock meats, but since I know how to make tons of different mock meats, that didn’t deter me from purchasing this book. I’m glad that didn’t because every recipe looks easy and delicious! There are not a ton of pictures in this book, but enough to get your appetite going! I might pull a Julie of Julie & Julia and try and cook my way through all 500 recipes! Wouldn’t that be a daunting undertaking?
06. Vegan Christmas by Gaz Oakley
At the same time that I picked up Betty Goes Vegan, I picked up Gaz’s latest cookbook. Unfortunately, I don’t have his first one, although it is on my list, I snatched up this bad boy solely for his Rosemary, Red Wine, and Garlic “Beef” with Rich Jus recipe. He posted a video making it a couple of weeks ago and of course, the recipe was in this book. I just HAD to have this recipe! Then I realized his Streaky Bacon recipe is also in this book! I’ve made his Lasagne and it is incredible! So I know this book, even if the recipes take a little longer, will be absolutely worth it!
07. Sweet Potato Soul by Jenne Claiborne
I have yet to cook from this book and I am extremely disappointed in myself! I’m from Texas and was raised on Tex-Mex, Southern Food, and BBQ. Finding a book that contained several classic southern recipes such as Skillet Cornbread, Fried Green Tomatoes, Mac & Cheese, Fried Okra, Gumbo, and both Pecan Pie and Sweet Potato Pie, sign me the FUCK up! This book has it ALL! And yes, HAVEN’T MADE ANYTHING! Come on now! That is definitely going to change this year!!
08. Salud! Vegan Mexican Cookbook by Eddie Garza
Oh, look, another book right up my alley that I have yet to cook from. Told you there was a theme. There are tons of familiar recipes such as different variations of Enchiladas, Chimichangas, Tamales, and one of my favorite drinks ever, Horchata! There is even a recipe for Conchas in here!
09. Veganomicon: The Ultimate Vegan Cookbook by Isa Chandra Moskowitz & Terry Hope Romero
I picked up this book based off of several book recommendations from Amazon. There are a ton of recipes in this book, however, the only ones that really appeal to me are the dessert recipes and some of the cookie recipes. I’ll have to have James look through this one and just pick a few different recipes for us to try and see if I feel different about this book then.
10. Isa Does It by Isa Chandra Moskowitz
I picked up this book at the same time as Veganomicon and out of the two, this is the book I’m most interested to try. The Mushroom Stroganoff looks delicious, the Belgian Beer & Seitan Stew sounds divine, there are several different stir-fries that are mouthwatering, burgers, everything looks great! I can’t wait to cook through this one!
11. The Edgy Veg Cookbook by Candice Hutchings
Yay! A cookbook I’ve actually cooked from! I told you one was coming soon! I’ve been following The Edgy Veg for a while on YouTube so when she released her cookbook you bet your ass I snatched it up! Now, I have yet to try every recipe, but the Pancakes are perfect and her Crunchy Taco Wrap Supreme is to die for, the disappointment for me was her chicken Seitan recipe. However, I haven’t tried making it in a while so I might give it another go again soon since I’ve become a bit more familiar in working with Vital Wheat Gluten.
12. Fuss-Free Vegan by Sam Turnbill
When I picked up this book, I had no idea that Sam had a YouTube channel or a BLOG! Needless to say, I am subscribed and LOVE her channel! Her book, well, since I subscribed to her channel, it’s safe to say I love her book. I plan to do a whole review in the future, pancakes, delicious, 15 Minute Peanut Noodles, so much yes, Spicy Braised Tomato Tofu Burrito, holy shitzies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, I mean really, you can’t go wrong with this book. It is extremely easy to follow, no crazy ingredients, highly recommend!
13. Vegan Comfort Classics by Lauren Toyota
Saved the best for last. Yes, this is my favorite cookbook. I fucking love watching Lauren on YouTube, her recipes always make me salivate and she has not steered me wrong yet! Her Seitan recipe is the best faux meat I’ve ever made, let alone try. It is actually juicy. You heard me right, juicy. I’ve used it to make Gyros, Philly Cheesesteaks, put it on homemade pizzas. You CANNOT go wrong with her Seitan recipe. You just can’t. Her homemade dressings are DISGUSTINGLY GOOD, like, I honestly don’t know how she did it with this book. There is so much I have made and so much I have yet to make but I am definitely hungry for more!
So that’s it, gang! Like I said, different from what I have been posting lately but like I mentioned at the beginning, I have some plans and goals for this site, I’m switching it up a bit. I’ll go into more detail in the future but for right now I will leave this as is! If you have some great vegan cookbook recommendations, I’d love to hear them!
