Foundation Friday: Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation

LeahEiden.com | Foundation Friday: Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation

Hey gang and happy Friday!  Today is the start of my weekend and I thought to kick it off, let’s do a full day wear test and foundation review!  For makeup, my blog focuses on cruelty-free beauty, so today I wanted to bring you the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation.  Currently, I have the shade 6.5 and it is a bit too yellow for me, I should have gone with 6, but I rather go more yellow than pink.  This is not a first impression, but it is still new to me.  I’ve worn it throughout the week, have some thoughts on it, but I wanted to showcase it to you guys, go over some things I have noticed with it, then do an update later on in the month.  Hope that is okay with you guys!  Anywho, enough rambling, let’s get on with it!

Also, quick side note.  Foundation Friday’s were inspired, for me anyway, by Taylor of ThaTaylaa.  She is the first person that I ever saw doing Foundation Friday videos and I’ve been watching YouTube for a very long time.  So, credit for the inspiration all goes to that wonderful badass!

Alright, like you can tell by the title and into, it is all about the Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Full Coverage Foundation today.  I picked mine up from Ulta and it runs for $12 and you get 0.8 oz worth of product, which is less than the average amount of 1 oz for more foundations.  It comes in 24 shades, with what I feel is a good variety of fair, light, medium, deep, and dark shades.  The packaging is frosted glass with a rose gold top and it is a doe foot applicator.  I don’t mind a doe foot applicator, the only somewhat issue with the packaging that I noticed is if you pull out the applicator too quickly, it can splatter a bit so be careful.

Today, I washed, toned, and moisturized like normal and for primer, I did use a little bit of my Catrice Prime and Fine Smoothing Refiner on my pores, but not all over my face.  From playing around with this foundation for about a week now, I have learned something vital in regards to application, do one small section at a time.  This foundation dries incredibly quickly.  The first time I used it, I had a hard time blending out the marks of initial application of foundation.  The best method I found was working a quarter of my face at a time, so that is what I did today.  On one half of my face, I used a brush and the other side a sponge.  I don’t notice a major difference between the sides, maybe a tiny bit more coverage on the brush side, however, it was easier to blend out using the brush but I did not like the overall finish.  So, I did go over with it with my sponge with no additional product, just to smooth it out a bit.

Off the bat, not a huge fan of it.  It is not terrible but I don’t like how it sits on and around my nose, as well as around my mouth.  It looks very dry on my skin and very heavy.  Note, I do not have dry skin.  I have normal to slightly oily in my t-zone.  I rarely battle dry patches, mostly just on the tip of my nose.

This is what it looks like after putting on the rest of my makeup.  Another thing that I have noticed is that I need to conceal one eye at a time.  Something about this foundation, how quickly it dries, it also makes my concealer dry down quickly as well.  To note, I did not use a new concealer, nor new face products because I need to know how well this product performs.  Besides the slight issue with the concealer, all of my other products, powder, bronzer, contour, and highlight applied fine, no issues there.  After I applied the rest of my makeup, overall I do like how it looks.  So far no major complaints but I’m still not a fan of how it looks in my nose creases, my nose in general, and I feel it looks a bit weird around my mouth.  Check-in time is 8:30 am.  My goal is to wear it until about 5/530pm today because I am doing this post the same day.  I will be testing it out for longer time periods throughout the month and give my overall thoughts on this foundation then.

For the first check-in, the time is 1:26pm or let’s just round it up to 1:30pm.  It has been on for 5 hours at this point.  I don’t feel it has oxidized throughout the day which is fantastic for me, that is a problem I have with most foundations, them oxidizing throughout the day and turning me into an Oompa Loompa, so plus number 1!  If you zoom in around my nose region, I’m still not thrilled with how it looks.  It still seems a bit dry and cakey around the nose creases and underneath the nostril cavities.  I am noticing just a very tiny bit of creasing around my smile lines, but nothing major and I do notice a couple of dry patches forming under my lower lip.  Overall, I like how it is wearing, looks really nice on my forehead, I don’t feel oily or greasy at all.  At this point, I really like how it is warming up with my skin and I love the amount of glow my skin has at the moment.

Alright, so the final check-in is at 5:30pm today, as I said earlier, it is the same day.  I’m trying to quickly finish this up so it is up at 6pm my time (PST) for you guys.  So the foundation has been on for a total 9 hours, which is not as long as I would like, but still a decent wear time.  As you can see from the pics from above, I feel it looks about the same as the 1:30pm check-in.  It looks a bit dewier but still nice.  Still a little cakey around my nose and mouth area but it doesn’t appear as dry as earlier.  Also, the creases around my mouth are a bit more prominent but nothing that would deter me away from using the foundation in the future.

Alright gang, so that does it!  At this point, with the few times that I have used this foundation, I do like it.  However, I will give my final thoughts at the end of the month, once I try a few different techniques, primers, powders, etc. on top of it to make sure it works well with other products in my collection.  It has lasted really well throughout the day on my skin, and even though it is a bit tricky at first, I’m excited to keep playing with it throughout the month!  Have you given this foundation a try yet?  If so, what do you think of it?  Let me know in the comments!  Also, let me know if there are any other cruelty-free foundations you would like me to test out in the future!  Thank you for stopping by and until next time!
